>> China Trade Briefing 2010  The latest China Trade Briefing report from MDS Transmodal highlights key trends in China's containerised import and export trades with near term quarterly predictions for 2010 and 2011.  Although the last 18 months have seen the container markets fall in spectacular fashion, still the words "double-digit growth" have not left the shipping industry's parlance as far as China is concerned.  The China Trade Briefing report shows why.  As well as looking at broad trends in imports and exports the report provides specific details on China's container trades with trading partners and particular commodity groups, drilling down to SITC 5 digit level in some cases.

Shipping

Shipping companies are constantly seeking new market opportunities. Although we have handled feasibility studies for all types of cargo we have become particularly well known for our work in the ro-ro and container sectors.

Typically carriers are examining new route structures and our role in these cases is to advise on the volumes of cargo available, current market rates, competition and all the items relevant to a full feasibility study. Occasionally, near-launch planning is also required, leading to cashflow analysis and other financial projections. Although the majority of projects undertaken have been in Europe, we have also evaluated services in the Americas and Asia.

We also advise on shipping matters to other organisations such as:

  • Financial Institutions - due diligence, market analysis, financial modelling
  • Government and EU - promotion of short sea shipping, policy implications, regional development
  • Local and Regional Authorities - local (island) ferry service provision; regeneration opportunities and threats to the ports and shipping community

Our Capability Statements, which also contain past project details, can be downloaded.
