>> China Trade Briefing 2010  The latest China Trade Briefing report from MDS Transmodal highlights key trends in China's containerised import and export trades with near term quarterly predictions for 2010 and 2011.  Although the last 18 months have seen the container markets fall in spectacular fashion, still the words "double-digit growth" have not left the shipping industry's parlance as far as China is concerned.  The China Trade Briefing report shows why.  As well as looking at broad trends in imports and exports the report provides specific details on China's container trades with trading partners and particular commodity groups, drilling down to SITC 5 digit level in some cases.

Dartford Crossing Capacity Study

MDS Transmodal is part of a team examining capacity issues on the existing Dartford river crossings (QEII bridge and Dartford Tunnels) for the Department for Transport.  Using the GB Freight Model MDS Transmodal has produced a modelled analysis of current freight demand on the existing Dartford crossings.  The number of HGV trips per annum has been established together with an assessment of trip origins, destinations and the domestic/international split.  A forecast of future demand has been produced (for 2015 and 2030) for the existing crossings.  In addition MDS Transmodal has produced some preliminary forecasts of future HGV demand with respect to a potential new crossing at a variety of different locations downstream of the existing crossings.  We have also examined whether a new crossing should include heavy rail infrastructure and provided wider advice with respect to rail operations in Kent and South Essex and shipping activity on the Thames.
