River Trent Water Freight Feasibility Study

The study involves:

  • examining the market opportunities for the movement of goods on the River Trent within the Nottingham - Gainsborough corridor;
  • reviewing and investigating options for improving navigation/removing constraints on the river to allow larger vessels to reach the Nottingham area;
  • assessing additional market opportunities opened up through an enlarged navigation, particularly traffics to/from the Humber ports;
  • identifying locations for wharves to handle traffics identified for both the existing and improved waterway, including the feasibility of establishing an inland port in the Nottingham area.
