What is the potential for container port facilities in Greece to serve a Central European hinterland?

The Solution

MDST carried out a study which involved:
  • Analysis of trade flows between Central Europe and the rest of the world;
  • Analysis of container shipping services calling at Greek and competitor ports;
  • Analysis of performance of container shipping lines calling at Greek and competitor ports; 
  • An update of data inputs to European Container Port Demand Model for 2019 base year;
  • Development of scenarios to be analysed using the MDST European Container Port Demand Model.

Outcome

A final report and advice were provided to the Greek government.
