The LOGISTAR project is seeking to develop a proof of concept software ‘tool’ to allow effective planning of transport operations in the supply chain through collaboration and using real-time data gathered from an interconnected environment. The project, which held its 4th plenary meeting in Vienna on 3-4 December 2019, has received funding from the EU’s Horizon 2020 Programme.

LOGISTAR
will provide the proof of concept for a real-time control and decision-making
support tool for logistics collaboration and a real-time supply chain
visualisation tool through dashboards not only displaying information but also
showing deviations, alerts and recommendations to take actions. The proof of concept for the software will be
tested in three ‘Living Labs’ in the UK, Italy and Belgium during 2020-21.
MDST’s role as partner in the project is to:
- Set out the new business models that are being employed in logistics – particularly given the rise of e-commerce – and which LOGISTAR needs to embrace;
- Highlight any changes in the policy and regulatory environment that might affect the LOGISTAR system;
- Develop the business model for LOGISTAR to take the system from proof of concept to full commercial exploitation.

The LOGISTAR project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under Grant Agreement No. 769142
