The Solution
Data analysis of freight origins and destinations and traffic flows using data from the GB Freight Model (GBFM)and Valuation Office Agency data on land use
Online survey of businesses and parish and town councils views on freight issues and potential measures
Telephone interviews with selected businesses about freight issues and potential measures.
Stakeholder workshops with businesses in Ludlow and Newtown.
Developing a long list of potential measures, followed by strategic multi-criteria appraisal.
Modelling of the potential user and non-user benefits from implementation of the major highways projects using the GBFM
Developing a strategy to present to the Marches LEP Management Board and to the Welsh Government
Achievements
Produced an agreed strategy which was published by the Marches LEP and then launched at an event in Welshpool in February 2018. The client went on to develop a joint appraisal framework for freight schemes in order to develop the business case for interventions
