To conduct a study on freight which informs the development of a freight strategy for the region.
The Question
How does freight move to, from, within, and through the region, using which modes and what would traffic volumes be in 2050 assuming ‘business as usual’ growth of the sector?
The Solution
MDST completed a research study which involved:
- Desk-based analysis of policy, public domain data and data from the Great Britain Freight Model (GBFM);
- Modelling of a future ‘business as usual’ scenario for 2050 using the Great Britain Freight Model (GBFM) to allow a comparison with the base year;
- Analysis of the potential for a reduction in the impact of ‘last mile’ deliveries.
Outcome
A final report summarised the data and what it means for the region.
